One of Toyama's best spring waters, known as cure-all sacred water
In the Edo Period, Toyama Domain's salt warehouses were located at this place and Tonosama (feudal lord) Shozu (spring) was a way-stop on the salt way from Toyama to Hida (presently Gifu). The name came from the anecdote that a high ranked samurai who managed the warehouses at that time loved this water. Water temperature keeps cool in summer and warm in winter. According to the water analysis, quality of the water is quite similar to Anantano Reisui (one of Japan's best 100 waters springing in Kamiichi).
In 1985, it was designated as Toyama's best quality water. Lots of people visit this place to take water from the spring as it is said to be sacred water to cure all. |
